G`day Guys
This may be a stupid newbie question but i`m not sure and thought i`d better check before i stuff things up. What position on the strut tube do i weld the threaded tube for my coilovers, i`ve seen plenty of pics but cant really work out a height. Is there a standard position for them or is it a case of near enough  is good enough?
Cheers

I looked around a lot for that measurement too.
General consensus seemed to be 2 inches or 50mm from the top. That's where I put mine and it seems to be good.

here is a set I had made

they were way too tall for my circuit car, and sat on the bump stops at ride height, it appears they were 'made' to forest spec.
here is a set I made afterwards,

this set was cut at the old spring perch weld, as you can see much lower. both threads are approximately 50mm down from the top, Its the height from the stub axle which is important to me.
What is the car used for, how low is it, what dampers are being used. what length springs are in play etc.

The second set utilise 300 pound springs with Rx7 inserts and are very low.

Thanks Jpayne, i`m looking at using it as a road/rally/hillclimb car so i`m looking at maybe 1 inch raise and a little softer than a track car.

Placement is directly related to spring length being used.

Sit the sleeve on with the collar half way along. Put the insert in and extend to full open. Put the spring and top hat on so they all touch, just, and make sure the insert is still full open.

That will give you good adjustment either way.
