just picked up a rolling shell and suspect it might be a rally pak.obviously all good original parts like bumperettes ect have been removed probably long ago.any information on plate codes/chassis ect or general diffrences around body to distiguish or de code it so i know what it is.someone mentioned something about an r on the plates ect which it has but any information will be helpful bearing in mind its missing obvious bodyitems like spots and bumperettes.thanks

There is no way of identifying a genuine rallye pack through chassis number decoding. They were really just a basic MK2 with some added bolt on goodies and some stickers, unlike an RS which did have specific chassis codes.

Having owned a few rally packs, some of the tell-tale signs are relay for spot lights on RHS of engine bay. Holes drilled in the front panel for spotlight brackets and wiring. These were don't at the factory, so it's easy to tell if the spotties were added later in the life of the car.

Maybe not so easy to tell if they were added later, as my car had dimples in the front panel for exactly where the factory spotlight bracket holes had to be drilled.

Yes, email them at  customers@fordcrc.com.au with legible photos of the compliance plates, registration papers and proof of ID and they'll send you a report listing build date, original selling dealer, options fitted etc.  Worth getting for the low, low price of free!

Oh, and the report will tell you conclusively whether it was originally a rally pack or not.
