ok ok i know some people will say 40's are two small on a pinto , but i also know there are alot of pinto's running 40's , just wanted to know what size chokes they are running , as it is a street car and with 40's i will have a bit more down low . Also what would be a good cam selection ??

Running dual 40 idfs (think of them as a downdraft version of DCOE), 34mm chokes, (emulsion F7, idles 60, mains 140, air 180), Crow 26874 billet ground cam, Vizard stage 1 spec head, static comp 10.5:1 with generic HM Headers and a 2" 'sports' exhaust pulled strong from idle but flattened out around 6,000rpm.
Recently changed to Genie large bore extractors and 2 1/4" low restriction exhaust - has moved the power up the range from 1,500rpm through to 6,500rpm; comes on song around 2,500rpm with a noticeable ramp up from around 4,000rpm, drops off sharply around 6,500rpm.

40's are fine on a street car. I ran 40's with 36 chokes to good effect. What series dellortos are they? If they are emissions carbs then I wouldn't go past 34's which are ok for a standard 2l. But if you are thinking bigger cams etc. Then 36 might be better. anything over 34's in an emissions carbs will start to mess with the way they're designed to work so can get a bit tricky.

Twin webers 40's with 33mm chokes, Newman Ph4 cam.  Big valves.  145hp atw according to dyno but I dont beleive that I think its probably more like 120
 
Anyway very well behaved in heavy traffic.  Lots of torque.  Starts to runs out of puff at about 5500 and by 6000 its running rich as cant get enough air.  Needs bigger chokes for the track (really notice it there) but for a road car its a good setup.  Better than 38/38 I tried for a while.  Fuel consumption around town is about 15l / 100 km if you're disciplined.
