The May 2012 edition of Classic ford mag had an article where twin 40's were compared to a 32/36 on (from what I recall) a mildly worked crossfow. Results were 15 extra BHP with twin 40's.
It seems logical that similar results would be had with a pinto. There's a lot of argument against twin carbs for mild pintos, but I'm not sure if it's justified. I think the amount of extra power is substantial and they sound and look great too.

On a Pinto because the std manifold works very well there is not that much difference.

In my experience on a mild pinto (making 80-90rwkw) there is about 5rwkw (about 8hp f/wheel) difference when making a direct comparison to a 38/38 and a correctly set up pair of 40dcoe's

Alot of money for 8hp

I have read somewhere that the 38/38's are actualy better than twin 40's.

Doesn't sound right but I suppose the twins are harder to get set up properly and if not then this may account for peoples issues.

Thanks for your expertise. Those ebay 38/38's are so cheap. And much easier than setting up DCOE's retaining all the relevant connections for vac advance, PCV and brake booster.
Thanks

it's the induction noise from DCOE's that make it seem faster
