Can anyone tell what size wheel and tyre combo will fit into the wheel well in a Mk2 escort. Tried a 185.70.R13 but wont fit.  Will I have to go to a 165.70.R13?  Need the 70 profile to keep similar rolling wheel diameter to match 15" rims and tyres to be fitted to the car.  Will need to have spare in car for rego, other than mounted flat in boot.

RS2000s came with an optional 175/70 on a 5.5" wheel, so I expect that should fit.

In QLD, the spare isn't part of the safety inspection so don't bother putting it in.

(1)  Road wheels relate only to those wheels in contact with the road.  The spare wheel is not included in a safety check

Thanks everyone for your input, particularly about needing one for rego.  Will try a couple of options so I know I can take a spare if going on a trip.

205/60/13 fits at a squeze - just if you wriggle it and push it the right way too... Is a tight fit, but It does work.  Easier if you let a litle air out to get it in there then pump it up - comes out easier than it goes in at full pressure - and does not wobble around - cant!
