The easiest option for anyone (I said easiest not best) because I am lazy.

Retain the distributor with phase sensor and make a cap for it (or leave the distributor cap in place). You may need it to drive the oil pump anyway. Also means you do not have to drill cam to take the sensor trigger.

As itchy's motor the WRC position was for ease of replacement or maybe even a redundant sensor (the WRC cars also used a twin bracket crank sensor).

Yes my motor.
I made the cap.
I think you can buy the caps in the uk.
The pic further up needed a bracket as he changed his sump (the crank sensor mounts off the standard cosworth sump).

Sump to cross member will more than likely hit. appartently there is a cross member that does clear the std sump. with mine all we did was trim the rear lip of the cross member where it fouls then welded the seam back together. I used standard world cup mounts to suit a pinto so the original mounts should be fine.

if your going to drive the car hard baffle the sump and at the same time remove a little of the leading edge of the sump.i used std escort mounts for years on cossy motors with 300hp and only broke one.much less vibration through car if you run std mounts
