Hi.
Has anyone done a "reasonably" simple mod to make the booster obsolete on a MK2.
Despite all the work i have done - it's something i am not very familliar with.
Are there any oversized master cylinders that witll fit?
Thanks.

I think you'd want a smaller m/c
Force produced by pedal on smaller m/c area = greater fluid pressure = more force applied by caliper pistons

I've yet to do it, but apparently a datsun 120y m/c (no. JB1196) works well. Its 11/16" dia.
An adaptor has to be made up to fit at firewall because mount holes are at 90 deg. to original

Cheers, Gregg

Awesome, thank you. i'll look into that. How hard is it to brake. Is it going to take all my strength to brake in a hurry or is it just a bit harder?

Brake force needed after booster removal is approximately twice. There are advantages and disadvantages. If your going to remove the booster I would recommend upgrading the brakes to a larger disc size to compensate, Bigger is always better when it comes to disc brakes.

braking effort on mine is almost standard after converting to the datsun m/c with std escort brakes all around

ok. Are there any budget upgrades that i can do. Any disks/calipers bolt up to the escort?

Yes the servo ratio from factory was 2.2:1, but I wouldn't mind betting that its nowhere near that on old Escorts with modified carburation/inlet

Just did quick calcs on m/c areas
Going from oe 3/4" down to 120y 11/16" increases pressure by 19%
Going down to 5/8" m/c increases pressure by 44% !!!

Cheers Gregg
