Great work. Just wanted to say it was great to see it at small ford Sunday this year- finally! Great to see it in the flesh and sppreciate all the hard work that has gone into it. Pictures can only say so much.

Thanks, It was good to finaly get it there. I was away for a large part of the day doing a couple of other things while in the area so unfortunantly didn't get a chance to meet many people this year.
My next major mile stone is to get rego and make it to the reefton cruse, maybe 2010.[%]
I have figured i must be getting a fair bit of belt slip on the supercharger as it is only hitting about 6-7psi (should be 10-11 standard) and starts to drop off after about 4500rpm slightly. So the new supercharger drive setup is high on the priority list.
I want to get it onto a dyno to conferm what KW i have at the wheels before i start making any modafications so i have a benchmark to work from. I am guessing it is about 130rwkw in its current state. I plan on pushing around 20-22psi eventually and around 300rwkw. It will be interesting to so how it performs compared to higher KW turbo motors in the real world as the torque is just so tractable and fun at the same time. Getting 0-100kmh in 5.7sec on cheap 205 tires on the street pushing only 6-7psi(130RWKW??), I am quite happy with when looking at the gains that can still to be made quite easily.

About spring rates....
I am yet to mesure the corner weights of the car but i am guessing that i would have 300kg per front wheel and 250kg per rear wheel giving a total mass of 1100kg. bearing in mind that i does have a V6 rather than the pinto in the front (+50-60kg) and 4 link rear and the4 front suspensions and geomatry has been altered also.
Currently i am running 150lb in the rear no swaybar and 400lb in the front with the standard mk2RS swaybar. Under exceleration if you go to turn it tends to dive quite bad but then you are just crusing it is a lot better. I am yet to do a proper wheel alignment but that is close. I am hoping that is has to do with miss matched spring rates or i might have a lot of reworking to do on the front end geomitry.
The front and rear have about the same droop with the curring spring rates (25-30mm) so i would have thought they should have been ok. The other thing i am yet to try and a sway bar in the rear to see if that helps and i may have to make the 4 link pivot point adjustable so i can change the longdatudanal roll center.
I am once again guessing that i should be looking for about 200lb in the rear and 300-350lb in the front.
any help and sugestions in sorting this handling issue would be appreciated and arm me with a better perspective when i go to chase the issue for real. thanks, David

Well i fitted a swaybar to the rear today and took it for a quick spin. It now dives a lot less than is was which is what i was expecting would happen. the rear sway bar is about 18mm so it is quite stiff and does the job nicely. for now i think i will just leave it and look out for a cheap set of springs in 300-325lb rate for the front and 200lb for the rears.

well i have finaly fitted a brace to strengthen up the watts link brackets. It is plug welded to the brackets and welded to the floor above the diff center. There is no way it will move anywhere now.
While i was under the car i drilled 2 additional mounting holes so i can change the roll center.





I have re-adjusted the rollcenter as showen and it is now almost as stabel with out the rear swaybar as it was previously with it.


I have also taken a photo of how low the car can go to the bumpstops in the rear.

Very good. The brace is a great idea.
The next weakest link will be the diff hat.
The twin ribbed gear covers are stronger if you ever hit a kerb sideways.
I'm just guessing the sideways action will accrue..


Two inches of travel is all you need. If you want more travel, give the rubber bumpstops a haircut.

You are prob. right about the diff cover being the weakest link now but something has to be. at least the diff cover is easly sorced and replaced if things do go bad.
Did i say bumpstops? I actually ment diff housing on chassis rails.[:u]
The power steering pump finaly died last night so now onto the new supercharger drive setup and find another PS pump. Not looking forward to this job.[B)][8~2]

I have a short vid of it before the X pipe was fitted but not a good idea to post on a public forum.[:u][%]. Sounds better on song now thou.
Started on the SC drive tonight, trying to work out a cheap way of nocking up some pulles to get it back up and going asap. cant justafy spending $1500.00 on it at the moment.[8~2]
