Hey.
Before i head into this alone, i thought i would ask.
Has anyone ever swapped thier indicator stem over to the right side
with any success?
The only issue i see so far is the headlight switch
getting in the way on the left side because of the bend in the stem.

Then i get back in the magna and turn the wipers on [:(!]

My old mk1 escort (with mk2 column + switches)had them changed over. Indicator on right and the lights on left? Dont remember the 'bend' issue, the only thing stange about it was that the pictures for the lights were upside down.

well on the right side (MK2) the light stem bends upward.
If you swap it it will bed downward. Then when you switch it on (downwards) it will be down far enough to possible hit your knee changing gears. - i think.
Can the stalks be removed from the switches??

I'm pretty sure i have an old one at home where the stalk slips out but remember there'll be a wire running through it for the horn, which won't matter if you've moved the horn to the centre of the wheel. If you get an old crappy one to sacrifice as a test subject, go to town on it and see what you can do.

Did it about 20 years ago. Got a pair of rubber boots (can't remember off which car, they were like mini gear lever boots). Cut the top and bottom column covers to suit boots, carefully re-shaped the stems in the opposite direction of the factory bend, installed and swapped harness plugs over from left to right. Looked factory!!

on a recently bought mk2 they were swapped over... took me a while to figure out what was wrong [88]

yep i did it to my rally car.. i used a oxy and heated up the stalk and simply bent it the other direction and spun the unit upside down.. works a treat! i can get a picture if u want?

Easy fix, sell the Magna and buy another escort...
