I know this was originally a query regarding 4dr trims but I see these have poopped up on Ebay lately - anyone know of them?

Would someone explain to me why all themobs doing these repros ask for "top metal tops?" They never came with metal, it was all pressed cardboard.

Yes your right they were all cardboard,

I saw them on ebay last night and I emailed them on the 13th of this month and still had no reply so I rang them an or so ago and they ask me to re email and they will get back , waiting ,waiting ,waiting ha ha

I wonder if you take a 2 door board and cut it back to suit the length of a 4 door and then turn the left hand side around and put it on the right hand rear door and cut it short then trim them, and same the other way,

Just a thought

I spent the first 5 yesrs of Escort ownership chasing these elusive metal tops and still haven't found them despite getting doors cards and buying cars that were all original (across several years or production - 1976-1979).

Could it be that they are so used to retrimming GT falcon doors etc, they think they all have them?

NOTE!!!

You need to supply "tops".......Same as I had to do... "They" promised me "all new" and ended up with a new flat part but my original formed tops fibre glassed to them. Not what I wanted...

I paid good coin for the "real deal"......Too good to be true....

Summary - find good/excellent originals...
