This is a redback. It all depends where you move in Australia as to what you need to look out for. Dropbears are everywhere so there's no avoiding them.

id say redbacks are prolly the biggest worry out of all the things in Australia that can kill you.

Only because they are quite common in the suburbs

Don't listen to them [:p] Redbacks re generally about an inch or so wide. But inflict the most painful bite of ANY spider. They're an Australian equivalent to the american black widow.

Now for sprays. I used to think crawly cruncher was a great product because for it worked 'really' well. But I've recently learned Diazinon the active ingridient is hell toxic. So much so that it's banned in the US and Europe. It's almost a joke how it can be found on the shelf at any major supermarket. Just use the ol pyrethrum to be safe

"December 31, 2004 is the last day outdoor lawn and garden products containing the pesticide diazinon can be sold. After that the products will be pulled fro the shelves. Indoor pesticides containing diazinon were banned two years earlier. "

This is from a random website but I am sure it is true, you wont find diazinon that easily it is an organophosphate and these are banned in all agriculture

Check what is listed in it. Quite a few items have had their ingredients changed while keeping the same name.

I've still got some Borax Tomato dust around somewhere and it's been banned for years.
