Okay bit embarrassing to ask this but where are mk2 escort built? I thought they where build here in aus but I just read a post that said 'and as far as I know escorts arnt built in aus?' or somthing along them lines. Are they built in euro or here. :)

Cheers.

Both the mk1 and mk2 were built in the UK or germany and BC escorts (1978-1980 mk2 shape) were built in Australia.

I thought that most of our escorts were built here, except for a few rs2000 mk1 and mk2.
Have a look at your vin plate. If the id  starts with the letters CK***** then your car was built in australia from a kit of parts sent from the uk.

Also back in the day ford australia referred to the mk2 escort as the Euro escort but this was a reference to the design not the place of manufacture.

As far as I was aware the Escorts were assembled in Homebush, NSW but with the parts being sent from Europe.

So from what I can gather the BC Escorts are just the MK2's that are the Aussie shelled ones but still essentially a MK2 with some slightly different parts?

Would I be correct in thinking that the difference between a MK2 and a BC is like the difference between an AU Series 1 and an AU Series 2?

Yehh my vin number starts with CK**** so that means it was a kit that was imported to Aussie and we built it? Well I guess that's kinda euro hahha.
