Hi,

The horn in my Capri stopped working a long time ago, so I finally attacked it today when I got home from a drive which sadly was not to the All Ford Day in Brisbane. The a white wire in the stalk is broken so I’m in the market for a new Indicator / horn assembly, unless there is someone who can fix it. I’m very hesitant to start pulling it to pieces myself, as if I break it I’m up the creek.

Thanks
John

Hi John,
After a long chat with John Roberts last year I did the following;

I purchased a brand new (aftermarket) Land Rover series 3 Indicator switch ($50). I have it stashed away in case my unit does die.
There is a slight adjustment required to the mount the Land Rover stalk onto the steering column (from memory a bit of packing out) and I could see by testing connectors to stalk functions that the wiring is indeed slightly different to the Capri. This only requires rearranging of a few wires.

I then repaired and slightly modified some components on my stalk and get it working reliably.
The first pic is where I made a new pin where the spring connects to so the white plastic rocker arms actually seat and the not as lose as the proverbial!
The second is one of the contact points that was not actually making an electrical connection with the arm it is mounted to.

Hope that helps.
Mark
