I do appreciate any help from you all, I have done some research, not really able to make sense of it all. No help from my father he either doesn't know or doesn't care. And as for his phone...,.he's probably picked it up from kmart, can't open any files you have all posted. I'll look over it all tomorrow night when I'm back home with mum.

AA and AB relate to 1300cc and 1600cc respectively on Kent 4 cyls

John, I just posted the V6 extractor part numbers on another topic "138hp and 165hp" and as you'll see those part numbers end in "AA" and "AB". There are also other V6 part numbers that use the "AA" in the parts catalog as well and you're right the "AA" letters are also used on 1600cc parts throughout the engine parts section posted above too. I think we're on a wild goose chase here!

Thanks for any help already

With regard to your engine number and the other characters on the block (your earlier photo above refers), here's a breakdown of the other characters, ie. 11J22. Firstly, it looks to me like the 1 has been double stamped (like the last 3 codes of 40P on the engine number) and so the code should probably read 1J22. This is the date of the engine, where 1=the year built, 1971, the J=the month, Oct (as in A=Jan, B=Feb, C=Mar, etc.) and 22 is the date built, 22nd. So, this motor was built on 22nd October, 1971. Hope that helps you.

Is it possible, this engine is one of the highest numbered oval ports left?

Yes it is, though I know of a couple with higher numbers! That doesn't mean that much though, as they can and were released out of sequence order, especially over the last 4-5 months of Australian assembly.

I’m about to advertise this engine. Bloc for sale.
Can anyone give me a price it maybe worth? Or should I advertised-it for best offer $

If you're just selling the engine block, it may be worth $100 or so. You need to be much more explicit about what you are trying to sell, ie. pistons, crankshaft, sump, etc.

It’s definitely only the engine bloc,
Everything is needed to fix other engine.

You can't just swap a crank over from one Capri engine to another without a full rebuild. You need to get it all checked out properly. Old Essex motors are a bit different to others. Certainly parts can be swapped but not without boring etc etc. Your crank for one won't just swap with no work done. They were line bored for each individual motor. As for highest number known I think it stands at CKME34053p unless some one knows one higher.

Maybe, yet for only $100 dollars can’t buy much.
I’ll take dads advice, bring it over to mums fill cylinders with soil.
Grow flowers in memory.
