I have a friend who would like to fit a 2.0L Pinto into a Triumph Spitfire (i think he said). Does anyone know what a Pinto weighs either with or without accessories so he can work out if it is a viable option?

Cheers,
Craig.

100/115kg ... doesn't matter the weight as it's thousand times better than the Triumph chunk lol !
I looked up a spitfire and he might have hight problems with the bonnet. . Maybe.

Thanks Marty. I just couldn't find any info about the weight anywhere! The car has the original 1500 but also came with a 1600 Kent. The guy who now owns it had an RS2000 back in the day so is wanting to fit a Pinto.

The car at the moment is a chassis, so if they are going to fit the Pinto, best to sort it before the chassis get blasted / powder coated etc. Searching on the net I found one with a Zetec conversion so I guess that is another option as the type 9 will bolt straight to that too.

Craig.

That would be fine Gareth. Is that the official weight from the Club records.
I have several pintos lying around but no means to weigh them. Thought someone might have weighed one to send via courier etc.

I found it interesting that all the specs in manuals list everything except weight. Cheers for the help.

I came across this site a while back. It lists weights for both engines and gearboxes, and dimensions for engines.

You were right Marty. The pinto is too big for the Triumph. He is going with the 1600 he already has. Just needs to find a rebuildable cylinder head. Anyone got one?

Cheers, Craig.
