Ryan,
If you apply minimal pressure it should be OK, just let the grinder do the work. This is how I got original RBTMs in my '79 RS2000

Update

Needed to install the large hole tops quickly for an upcoming track day so this is what i did.

I marked out on a piece of mdf the small hole pcd and large hole pcd, then drilled holes where I had marked. I used this as a template to drill the larger pcd on the car.

I removed the old struts and bolted the mdf template to my original holes. Then used it to drill new holes in the correct position. Sorry I do not have photos of this stage but it was very straightforward.

Left with this

I decided to leave the strut top openning alone for the time being as I was running out of time. Still have standard diametre springs so can not take advantage of a larger hole yet. I will enlarge it when I install coilovers.

Here is the finished product

As I said it was just a temporary "get them in" job so at a later stage I will go back and enlarge the centre hole, and tidy up paint etc.

Cheers,
Ryan
