Hey gang, whats the consensus on linkage for twin carbs?  I have a pair of 40mm DCOE's and need to buy a manifold to suit my 2tlr pinto. So, my question is, should I buy a manifold that suits rod linkage or one thatis designed for cable linkage like the weber LP2000 kit?

Any thoughts?

Surely someone has some thoughts on this? Anyone?

twin cable linkage, either a weber or a sytec one

I have found these pretty good on bothe the rally car and the arce car

Get a genuine webber one. Worth it in the long run.

I use the rod along the manifold.
I have recently gone through this with my mechanic friend. (We disagree on this)
It is worth checking something.
I can't explain why and it defies all logic, but when i have the carbs linked through the center, i get uneven throttle movement. What I mean is that at full throttle the butterflies are no longer parallel.
I can't explain why.
So i refuse to use it and have a link for each carb.
So do full throttle and check down the throats. (not with the engine running!)

If it's like mine was, then the explaination is quite simple.

The studs on my redline manifold weren't inline, causing the throttle spindles to be mis-aligned. ie one was a few mm above the other. Also the center balance lever joint is not 'fixed'.
So when one rotates the other, which is not on the same centreline, the balance levers can 'slide' relative to each other & the throttles don't move thru' the same arc (hope that makes sense).

A small mis-alignment of spindles means a big difference in the two butterfly arcs. The best solutuion when using a balance lever is to weld up, redrill & tap the manifold so that all studs line up.

Hey Greg.
I figured thats what it would be.
I never would have though it would make so much difference.
I figured also with the soft mounts that would exacerbate the problem.
Re-drilling is a bit of a big job - tackle it later.

Sorry for the hijack EskyRS

Don't buy a Redline they are very poor quality.

I used this

I found there were too many places for movement with a linkage kit whcih made it near impossible to get the carbs working in sync - there was always play in it somewhere.
