Hey guys, I uhmm kinda blew the diff up in my mk2.

Its a 1.6 so itd be the 3.54:1. What are the 2ltre diff ratios and what would be a good option to go for?

I dont want it to reving like crazy on the highway but... i dont want to be crazy slow off the line. And will welding the diff up give it any extra "strength" as in like not just locking strength but durability when launching if i make any sence.

Are all the mk1 diffs interchangable?

And also if somone near Toowoomba has a diff for cheap im very keen, Just give me a call or text on 0488083299.

Cheers,
Brandon.

theres a good chance you could change your blown diff into a locker, that's what i did with mine

Is there a way I can tell without ripping it to bits? I'm pretty confident that the teeth are all shredded in it. An apparently the axles arnt big or strong enought to have a locker? So I'll be contantly braking them? Or? Has anyone had any different experiences?

well you would have to strip it apart, if it's those spider gears that usually break it may be able to turned into a locker not ideally but it will get you back on the road, mine has lasted for a while although it's getting loud now, locker is good if you need more traction but i never give mine curry from standstill only when it's rolling, otherwise the locker could get annoying if it's driven daily

Yehh well I can see me not minding if it's a bit harder to drive, but I'm just keen to get back on the road, I would like a locker. And I don't think I'll be dumping the clutch around corners anymore hahah!

Well I'll jack it up and pull most of it apart and have a look, id rather just find a second hand one and weld it up before I put it in? Know anyone with a diff and about 100ks max away from toowoomba?

Can somone tell me what diff ratios are in what cars? And are diffs from a mk1 interchangable? And what ratio I should get?
