I have my doubts about how genuine this car is. There are many aspects of the engine bay which are just not right.

I've been told that it's a 4 cyl shell, and the engine bay points to that, mainly the non genuine reinforcing brackets in the corner of the engine bay and the brake line mounts. It does have the correct radiator support panels, but the slam panel doesn't look like a 72 version. It would be interesting to see this in the flesh, especially as I'm pretty sure it's been on ebay a few times in the last 18 months.

Agree with above. Really the only crime here is that the seller specificaly said that it was a genuine matching numbers 72 v6gt which it clearly isnt. I hope the buyer knows this and wasnt decieved.

Well...a bit dubious as to being a genuine V6.
For all the fellow Capri anoraks out there.....

Lacking
- the recess in the LH engine bay skirt for the bigger V6 battery
- the little triangular pieces at rear of engine bay skirt abutting the firewall are all seam-sealed, unlike ex-factory (but in fairness may be due to repairs).
- the high mount brake lines across the heater plenum chamber are missing the spot-welded tabs with the hole for the black brake pipe clip.
- comments re matching numbers....engines come and go, as long as the plate matches the body
- that style of bonnet clips i thougt was replaced with XY-style clips in  '71 or '72

and hopefully
- has a three-bolt-a-side cross member
- longer chassis rail plates forward of the strut

And the reversing lights are obviously a personal perference .......

 Hmmmmmm

Could have had a big front hit and a 4cyl front clip grafted on (would explain early slam panel) but those triangles????
I'd need to see the inner guardsinside the wheel well.  Even so you get a capri with a v6 in it drive away and looking reasonable for $10k

I asked the seller for the strut number .... What a surprise no response. I hope the buyer was aware of originality or moire to the point lack of. Be safe to say wasn't a forum member .. Fingers cross he won't be disappointed .
