I just bought a cheap 1600 (not Gt) for panels for my V6.  I dont know anything about the 1600's.  Is the engine, gearbox and diff the same as the GT or different?  Do they have any value?

If it's a 1600XL (CK30 prefix for chassis number) then it will essentially have the same specs as a 1600GT.

The body is a CK14JE model code is 13914 so from my book I think its a 1969 Delux.
 
The engine however is 711M-6015-BA which from my searching tells me it a Kent 1600 crossflow and it's got a Weber carb.  Does that make it anything special?

If your car is a 69, then it wouldn't have been originally sold with a 711M, so it may have been rebuilt, or it may have come from a GT Capri/Cortina etc. The Deluxe also had the 711M, just not having the sporty cam, etc.

They tend to be one of the more favoured blocks for modifying. The main advantages they have are thicker walls and stronger square main caps as standard. You might get $2-300 for the whole engine, but I haven't been paying attention to prices.

If the engine has been swapped, then the gearbox may have been also. If it has a GT/XL gbox then it should be a close ratio, and the deluxe box will be the standard ratio gbox with a noticeable (and frustrating) gap between 2nd and 3rd gear. A close ratio box needing a rebuild may also be around $2-300.

The diff ratio in a deluxe (from memory) is 4.11, and is 3.89 in a GT/XL. The diffs are otherwise the same.

Your best money will come from selling the front struts to someone wanting stronger struts for their Mk1 Escort. Same as Escort Twin-Cam struts apparently. A few years back people were getting $5-600 for those.

Thanks for the info.  My book says the Capri 711M has the next set of numbers as 6010, so being a 6015 I think its from something else.  I will have to check the numbers on the gear box and diff, or open them up and count the teeth.  It doesn't drive so I dont know what the ratios are, but good to know that I need to get my facts about them correct before I advertise them.  The struts are one of the few things I will keep for spares.  Thanks again.
