COZ
G'day all, Coz here. Have been away from the forums for yeeears now but is good to see it's still alive and healthy and some familiar names.

I'm back in Melbourne to clear out the parental shed and try and get my Sundowner started. Will be posting up some spare parts this week (mostly panels, etc.)

Was trying to start the van after sitting untouched for over a year... damn thing nearly did it... kicks over just fine, pretty healthy actually, but there seems to be a fuel supply issue at play.

It starts up when I pour a bit of petrol down the carby, but only goes long enough to burn off that fuel. Have poured about $15 worth of petrol in the tank, but the inline fuel filter is still dry and empty. Popping off the hoses, they also look dry inside.

I have a little electric fuel pump which seems to be working (I can hear and feel the light tapping) but petrol doesn't seem to be making it up to the pump, filter or carby.

My next step is to clean out the fuel line, what can I buy as an economical replacement? Is suitable hose available at Bursons?

Any help of diagnosing this would be great.
Cheers all, good to be back
Coz

Fuel may have gummed up in the tank, or maybe also condensation build up in there also. Might want to try draining the tank into a large bucket/s you'll see the water looking like little balls of water in the bottom of the bucket with any debris that may have found its way in over the years. From there start disconnecting hoses and blowing through them to ensure a free flow. It's all a process of elimination.
Good luck.

As suggested i would blow the hoses out first, pop the fuel hoses off the tank and do that first, that way you will know if you need to pull out the tank.
I wouldn't suggest blowing back into the tank as this may dislogde the obstruction in the tank but it will just find its way back at some stage.
Good luck

Thanks guys, will blow the lines out this weekend. The lines look parched and brittle, will somewhere like Bursons or SC have suitable replacement hose if they fall apart in my hands?

Cheers
Coz
