What's the trick in removing the roof gutter chrome trim without destroying it?

 ive done a few - the stainless steel is v hard so doesnt dent easy if u take your time and lever it off top edge out first - gradually work your way along

correct as spud15 says..............remove slowly and carefully in smallest of amounts.........I found that a 200mm block of hardwood roughly 20 x 40 used end-on plus a small hammer does the trick, moving 3-5 mm along with each tap
of the hammer(remember protection sheet on turret)........then hang them somewhere safe lest Murphys Law should prevail !

I ended up using a set of pincers to work my way along.  They allowed me to see and feel how much the trim was moving and the wide blade made sure the load was even.  Marked the paint but its a donor car.  It was only slight so some rag or tape would probably work if paint was worth protecting.

The pincers didnt touch the bottom edge, just levered the top with one blade.  I just put the pincers there in the middle for the pic after I had done the first one.  I started at the back and had a thin screw driver folllowing to stop it popping back on as I moved fwd.  I just preferred levering with the pincers to the idea of hitting with a hammer and wood.  I also tried a screw driver for levering but I liked the angle of the pincers better and the blade is wider.  They came of nice and straight, no damage to the top or bottom edges.
