Hi I have just purchased a Feb 1970 Capri GT V6 and belive that these came from the factory with bonnet pins fitted but have seen bonnets with no pins or twist locks at all. I am looking to restore back to original. Mine has pins in it like on the xw gt's.

Steve, the V6 GTs used pins in 1970 and early 1971 and then changed to the XY twist locks through to the end of the series in November, 1972. The 1969 1600GTs only had the pins, whilst I believe that the XL and Deluxe models didn't use pins or twist locks at all! Cheers, Terry

I believe you could order the car without them. I've seen a few original GTs that never had pins or twist latches fitted.

If the placement of yours are the same as this car, they may well be original.

The profile of the top of the pin should be like the picture below:

The ones Rare Spares sell for GT Falcons have more of a flat taper to a point, and they don't match what I've seen on original Capris.

Hi Guys, here's a couple of photos I took the other night.
The original colour is hot orange. Shes a bit rough they had started to strip the car a couple of years back and left it bare so it has light surface rust, should clean up sweet.
The dint in the front is from a roo, my beater is confident it will pull out. No other rust anywhere.

Nice one Steve. I haven't yet seen a Hot Orange capri in the flesh but would like to (none that I know of in the QLD club). That colour seemed to be the hero colour when Ford launched the V6 in 1970 and Wheels magazine performed their tests.

So great to see another rare beast soon to join its other sibblings.............keep on it, even if you spend 60 minutes on it every day, so you don't lose interest, as you've got a fair bit of work in front of you !
Aren't we lucky not to have a modern car boring colour which is mostly WHITE, GREY, SILVER, or OFF-WHITE ?
.........another reason of many, why I fell in love with my 1972 D port GTV6 in "Wild Plum" !
Cheers
