looks like it mated with a Gemini van.  A few made into utes in the UK as well.

I've seen pictures of these before. Not sure of their history, but I would love one.

They've been referred to as a Capri Scorpion, and I've also seen them referred to as a Capri Sports Wagen (German spelling).

This Capri Scorpion was a one off from the Ford factory long before the Gemini van and it was last known to be up around the Ballarat area.

Capri Scorpion. Folklore says that three were built by Ford Australia for market appraisal.
When the project was cancelled one car was smuggled out the back door to escape being crushed by Ford.
The survivor was accurately restored from poor condition.
 
The photo is obviously relatively recent. Tag history shows this photo was taken 25/2/2009 using a Fuji Film FinePix S9500 digital camera. Photo was modified today probably in preparation to load to this website.

The back end is almost an exact copy of a reliant scimitar (68 on). Many will know that the scimitar used the zephyr straight six and v6 engines so maybe ford was hoping to do a deal on the design and so built a few capris for evaluation. Obviously it never happened so ford wanted to get rid of the evidence.
Going by the number plate on the scorpion this all happened early on in the capri model run, say 70-71.
