Ok it's been a while, how the hell do you get the steering rack out again?
I need to pull the shaft up into the cabin to remove the extractors.
Steering wheel etc off, pin out of shaft, steering lock off, does it need to come off at the firewall?

Pull the whole steering column out in one piece, no need to remove wheel etc that way and it'll be easier to guide it back into the coupling. Theres a bolt and captive/ welded nut on the firewall that secures the column casing in place. You should be able to pull the carpet up to get to it. Might be worth putting in a new rubber grommet while you're there...
Cheers Drew...

Make sure you put steering wheel, front wheels in the proper straight ahead position and mark the splines on the steering coupling on both sides, usually on a piece of masking tape across the joint, to make sure the splines go back in the same position, otherwise steering out of whack, wheel alignment etc. len

This wont affect wheel alignment if you are only removing the column, only the centring of the wheel, which is really an easy fix.
