Want to build a reliable turbo pinto engine, thinking running around 6-12psi, and making my own injection manifold.... what do i need to do to the engine for this to happen? Whos made there own injection kit?

About 10~15k to do it properly. Firstly, a good engine biulder & a good block. Forged pistons, Carrillo rods, stainless valves, turbo cam & headwork, Garrett T28 turbo, custom intake manifold, rail & injectors, computer & wiring, custom turbo manifold, custom exhaust, a good radiator & intercooler, plumbing.

Then upgraded driveline. Shortened R31 diff, supra box, custom tailshaft, BIG brakes, etc etc.
Tuning & dyno time. Engineering?

I have read from other members here that by the time a project like this is done right, it would have been the same cost as dropping in a well built Sierra cosworth engine.

I did this in 1985 to my RS2000. Very successful and a lot of fun.
Highly suggest to simply buy a late model 6 cylinder factory turbo Falcon.
Everything is already there.
No pain and suffering.
And a better car.

Agree with Peter, This is why SR20 swaps are popular, bang for buck.

Putting a Nissan motor in a classic Ford is not a decision to be made lightly.

Why not keep the Ford a Ford and buy a 180SX with the SR already in it? It would probably work out cheaper :D

turbo pintos arent that hard to do,
mine has made decent power for not much money, in fact ive spent around $2500
using a carb, but to be honest injection would be ideal. im interested to see what you come up with on the injection manifold side.

This is a piccie of my setup.
I originally turbocharged the car in 1985.
Took it off the road in very early 1990 to rebuild the engine (chasing more horsepower) and programmable fuel injection.
The car remained in many pieces until 3 years ago when I got fed up seeing it in bits.
Got everything completed except for the inlet manifold, then life side tracked me once again.
