Hi guys im new to building engines I currently have a stock 1300 mk2 which the rings have gone in so dicided to swap it out for 1600, I just had the 1300 head reconditioned which set me back $300 so what im wanting to do is keep the head get bigger valves in it and put it on the 1600. So what I need help with is what cam I should go for? Also been told to put the 1300 pistons in it. I want to spend money on it but not go crazy with it. So just wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers in what to do to get a bit of power out of it. Cheers

Here's a quick guide by Burton. Classic ford mag would have done a guide as well at one stage. If i get time ill flick back through and scan them for you. Also a budget helps as well.

i put together a 1600 using 1300 pistons ( increases the compression ratio)
Head had std valves and mild porting, used the 1300 gt inlet manifold and 32/36 weber
and a A2 cossie grind on the camshaft and a set of extractors.
Went pretty well for a cheap build.
