Hey guys, ive been trying to figure out what will be the easiest and the most cost effective way to get some good power, i know alot of people go the SR20 but its still a bit expensinve, just want to know some people insights on what they think each avenue will cost and how hard it is. i dont really know what's involved in turboing a pinto and need some info on that also. If anyone can give me a insight that would be tops!

Cheers Rhys.

Volvo conversions are massive in Sweden and they produce some very high power cars, wonder if the swedes have a forum etc on old fords?
maybe turbosport may be a good place to put a post to find out more?

Ive been on turbobricks.com and thats a volvo site but not really very helpful on putting one in my escort, yeah my uncle had told me about this crazy mk2 with the volvo conversion in it and the clip on youtube is awsome, smashed a r33 skyline and hardly gets traction in 3rd. Im trying to weigh up pricing of all three types, the volvo's are very hard to come by.. well the manual ones atleast.

Probably not that helpful, but I understand one of the twincam 4cyl volvo heads bolts on to the 2.3 US pinto for impressive results.

It does bolt on but the volvo redtop is quite high about 20mm higher, ive been searching on different sites and they say there is alot of cutting involved, i think i may cancel the volvo out, its hard to find and alot of chop chop.. im not afraid of a little cutting just affraid of ALOTof cutting lol

The May 2009 issue of RetroFord has an article on a Volvo B5234T five cylinder 2.5 litre engine in a Mark 1 Escort. The deed was done in Sweden.
