By all means spud post away as I lost a pile of pics to a dud flashcard. Oh BTW, I need those rad mounts and a battery tray when you are ready as the orange MK1 went north today, cheers JR

It's good to see that your RS3100 resto is on track again, have you given any though to the type of paint you will be useing, acrylic or 2pak? Acrylic will give you the most original look the only problem is to get a real good finish it's more expensive than 2pak because of the extra labour that's involved. Spartan Paints have the correct colours for the RS3100 as they were the original suppliers according to my Ford Aust. Capri RS3100 and Escort RS2000 Unique Parts Listing.

Yeah paint is a bit of an issue, I like 2 pack due to its shine and no polishing every few months. Acrylic is original though and being a 70's car should in thoery be duller than current car. The RS was painted in 2 pack when restored on the 90's and there is a bit of it left around inside the car and on a few leading edges. A guy I know has offered to paint it in acrylic as he wants a set of Simmons wheels I have, another guy at local panel shop says he'll do it in 2 pack

Panel guy rang last night says the underside, boot and interior floor has been sealed I have to pop in on Saturday to see the almost finished shell. I'm curious to see how the flares came out I'll grab some pics and post them

Went to see the car today, majorly disappointed, quality of work in some areas is absolute crap. The owner of the place has obviously had a labourer doing the work and took shortcuts. Luckilly I saw it before it was primered (he had told me it was already). I told the guy to do it right or i'm pulling it out of there, and he can forget his quoted price if some bits I saw are any indication. A good example was the floor which had been sprayed in underseal, right on top of all the crap that blew in, including a business card and a handful of dirt...... [:(!]

I'll be doing a surprise re-inspection later in the week

Getting someone to do bodywork and painting has got to be the most stressful part of rebuilding a car. Ill be real glad when mine is past this stage.
The next one I rebuild Im doing it all myself even if it will be in acrylic. (mk1 escort super)
JR I hope it all works out for you, oh and have you considered using a vinyl roof to cover any little wrinkles?

The roof is the one perfect panel on the car, I did want the guy to fit the factory sunroof I have, but, now I'll re-assess that. Oh yes the owner is well aware of my current feelings, I think he was as surprised at what he saw as well
