David W
I'm chasing some pictures & measurements on a part that is on a factory sunroof  for a Escort - it might correlate with other sunroofs (Capri, Cortina etc).

The Sunroof is a manual slide one (not the winding version of a Golde that is seen on XW-XB Falcons etc). There is a lever at the front of the sunroof which you pull down to a vertical position ,slide the roof forward/back and then push the lever back up to lock it in.

On this form of sunroof (it may also appear on others) there are 4 flat metal tabs that sit close to each corner and are held in place via 2 (or 3) screws that hold the metal tab to the sunroof.

What I'm looking for is a nylon (?) type piece that sits on these metal tabs and effectively lifts the sunroof up into place when it is closed - it slides along the gutter rail in the roof turret. My illustrious panel beater lost these in the rebuild & its taken me this long to find out what was missing. I can get these made via water cutting jet, but ideally I'm looking for some pics and measurements to save my kids learning new works while I try to put this in and out time and time again.

Do not go by the nylon (red) tabs in the pictures here - that was something the panel beater tried to craft to solve the problem

Hi David,

I've got the same sunroof in my Escort RS (we've spoken before). I've looked at other similar cars with sunroofs (Capri, Cortina, etc) but they all seem to be the type with the winder which is definitely different. I've got my sunroof out at the moment so I can help you with the details you're after. The picture below shows all the components except for the floating bar that connects to the two wires at the back of the sunroof panel.

Note there are 6 nylon blocks not 4 as there are two for the floating bar. They are not all the same either, in fact there are 3 different pairs. I'll take some closeup photos and get some dimensions for you. I'd be interested in getting a set also if you're going to the trouble of getting these made. I'm also missing the rubber seal that goes around the sunroof panel. From the photo in your post it looks like you have this. Can you provide details of what this seal is like and how it attaches to the sunroof?

Cheers, Adil...

Try getting some MK2 MK3 Capri spares as these are different to the MK1 Golde.  IIRC my MK2 used the nylon "shoes" over right angled metal brackets at each corner.  I have seen your style of sunroof fitted to HJ HX Holdens so it might pay to ask around to locate the manufacturor.  Woods Sunroof centre in Melbourn would be a good place to start
