My engineer told me that in NSW you aren't allowed an adjustable pedal box that can be changed from within the cabin.

Depending on your installation you should be able to remove the adjusting handle and have the car passed.

Then it's up to you if you add the handle back on later.

OK very clever, yeah it does have a split pin through the Tpiece. The problem now is that there is only ONE bloke in town that does blue slips and he is convinced that cause the brake system has been altered it wont pass.
One engineer i spoke to said i either put it back to standard or use a dual m/c and remote booster I havent looked into this dual m/c option yet, mine has two m/c's on the actual pedal box but im guessing  thats not what is ment by DUAL m/c?

Hi Brad,
Your setup is a dual master cylinder configuration.  You have two independent circuits.  In Vic I was told the same thing about the bias adjustment not being allowed, its a problem if you have the dash adjuster.  I didn't think there was one one on your car, if its there is you can remove just the adjuster.   It connects to the pedal box with two screws, if you undo one you can disconnect it and remove it.
The boosters are a personal choice, I didn't think the brake force needed to slow the Mk1 was particularly high.

Give me a call if you like and we can have a bit more of a chat about it.

Cheers,

Mark

Tell him what you have was standard on a Twin cam MK1 Escort which except for you not having a booster is pretty much true and that the twin cam version was not bias adjustable from inside

Thanks guys I was so gutted yesterday when i thought I was up for a crap load of drama trying to get this on a full rego. I dont want to go down the club rego route yet and im hoping to get her on the road by easter. I have her booked in on thursday with a bloke in the next town over, he's younger and seems ok over the phone
and not a grumpy old stick in the mud like the other guy. Ill try and find some info and proof on the twin cam having the pedal box setup, and as you said yesterday Mark, with it being a FoMoCo works item that may help to if it comes to it and Ill remove the handle from the side of the pedal box.

If anybody can send some Mk1 twin cam info with proof of the factory pedal box set up that would be great

Just find a pic of a twincam engine bay...it will have the remote fluid resevoir.

Technically you should have the new pedal box engineered. My original engineer passed the mk2 escort adjustable pedal box in my corty but wouldnt allow the adjustment knob. Good luck with the new blueslip guy:)

I plan on using a bias pedal box in my mk1, here in NSW. However i won't be having any levers, or knobs etc. Im thinking of having a tight nut setup which you need to turn by spanner. Although i still need to look into if this will work. But thats the idea anyway.

Here's an engine bay pic..

And peddle box pic.. (let me know if link doesn't work..)

Best not even have the discission with the blue slip guy...most wouldnt check if they arent given a reason.
