It was $7500 Buy Now. I would have pressed it if some lucky devil (who I suspect may be well known to forum members) didn't get in before me. Sometimes you have to be in the right place at the right time and as disappointed as I was, I'll just keep my eyes out for the next time.

Ok the jig is up, I bought it, but read the ad closely he says Original GT, he does not say say original GT V6.  The Matching number bit relates to the body number and the ID plate, and the engine number with the QLD roads paperwork (his words).  Apparantely he did not mean it was a full on matching number car, then pleaded ignorance as he saw the triangle plates and 6 bolt x-member.  He also forgot to mention that the bonnet is fibreglass....
As such the car is not really of interest to me, but, it would still make a great project for someone.  I will right a few interior wrongs, get it going and offer it up for sale with an accurate physical description.
  
Moral of the story, If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

So it all comes full circle really to the naming and reason for the thread. You did not really have to go through with sale if was not as advertised unless you really wanted the car. 

Correct, it does have a lot of good features which might be swapped over to another - original and correct- matching number V6 ill be selling soon as well. 
 
I decided to purchase the car after a re-negotiation due to the 4cyl body, it will still be a great project for someone as there is almost no rust and does not appear to have been in an accident.  
 

I'd just convert back to 4cyl and sell v6 running gear separate. That will stop the next person from taking some else for a ride.He chose the wrong person selling it to you seeing you these back to front inside out. Lol
