Hi there, can someone please confirm if all Mark 1 GTV6 models had the Superoo front guard decal?
I've always assumed it was the earlier 69/70 models & not the newer 71 & 72?
Cheers Jon

I suspect that the 'Delete Option' cars that didn't have the blackouts and stripes wouldn't have had the Superoo, but they were probably standard unless you didn't want them.

I thought the Super Roo were added by Peter Warren Ford initially so could only have started as a dealer option initially then spread across the dealers. V6 which had them only came out in 1970 so no 69 model Capri would have had them. So early to late 70s onwards could have been supplied as an option.

Just checked out the 69 capri brochure, no superoo.  The 70 brochure its there.
Ford first used the superoo on the 69 gt xw falcon and for 1970 it appears on all the performance models, gt falcon, twincam escort and capri gt as evidenced by the brochures.

I could be wrong, however I believe the superoo decals were dealer fitted like wiggy333 said above
These were added a as a marketing trick to align the small fords with the performance image of the Falcon GT's.
Thus the actual positioning of the front superoo decals differs slightly, dependant whom fitted them at the dealers.

This also could also be the same for the bonnet pins.
For example
Early cars got the pin type pins from XW GT as that what the dealers had access to from their spare parts departments from the XW GT parts bin.
Later cars got the screw down pins from XY GT, however these must have been a "genuine accessory" as the brackets are Capri specific.

I havent double checked my Capri parts catalogue book but I can't recall the superoo decal and bonnet pins listed as Capri parts in the parts catalogue book.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Superoo decals ARE listed in the Capri parts manual as part numbers XW 16554 B (RH) and XW 16555 B (LH) and judging by the illustration included in the manual, were only available for the 1970 on GT/V6 models. As for the bonnet pins, they appear not to be in the parts manual, but were the standard Ford items as used on the XW (as pins) and the XY (as the push down type). My understanding is that all these accessories were used as standard equipment by Ford to help raise the local content of the cars and to thus help reduce import costs. At best, I understand that the final Capri's were around 40% local content and that's one of the major reasons for Ford dropping the Capri in favour of the already successful Mk.1 Escorts and the very successful TC (onwards) or Mk.3 Cortina's! Cheers, Terry
