I decided to inject the Essex v6 in my blue capri. Its my favourite capri and ive decided to put my efforts into finishing it as I want, before I put any more work into any of the others. At least then ill have a capri I really like finally finished.

Im doing it for 2 reasons - cosmetic (the old Essex looks a little dreary when I lift the lid)
and I hope to domesticate the old girl even more than I have already. It has the T5 - which works really well, the LSD and uprated brakes.
Suspension is RS3100 but with an A frame and 2.8i front sway bar. Steering is power steer, from a M.3 3.0 v6

I started with the tank - modified it to take a commodore pump (it is totally hidden so I can bear it).

I chopped it out, welded in the relevant plate and welded up the breather openings. Then painted it as per original (facelift) grey.

Im keeping the crank and cam sensors in the distributor. Its neater and all hidden away. Scorcher are in the process of modifying a commodore (Ill put a "ford" sticker on it) unit to fit. It will be taller than the original, but will clear

I do have the choice of running 6 x LS1 coils or the single. Ive decided to do the latter (although the LS1's would look cool)

im using a triple weber manifold I had. The choice of throttle bodies is a bit limited. Ive decided to go with Jenvey ones and after talking it thru with others, used their shorter "pico" injector rails and brackets (primarily due to limited space btn the units). It all fits nice on the manifold.

Ive plumbed to the rails - will be using screw on (not push on) fittings.

the tuner did not want me to draw vacuum from the manifold, so will install a vacuum pump which is on its way

injectors push out 347cc - which is normally  a little too much, but the engine has big valves, high comp pistons etc and has been stroked to 3.4 ltr - see how it goes....
they are a later style injector and run an extended nozzle - it actually was a good thing - the end of the injector now sits just right inside the throttle body

The throttle bodies are lower than the rails, making it difficult to set up air cleaners (im going to have 35mm extensions made)

Im aiming to set it all up in approx. 8 weeks time

Bonus
Nice work spud .
I had a 3.0 essex in my very first mk1 escort back in 1980 .
It was a 72 mk1 1100cc and I fitted a essex into it from a crashed granada police car i had .
Went like a scalded cat but some plonker had left all round drum brakes on it ! Yes me.
Wasnt long before it was folded around a tree .
Happy days

That is some serious thought. And money.
You can’t beat injection for an Essex I say.
Looking pristine.

Hi Spud

You obviously decided the Tecalemit Jackson mechanical injection setup couldn’t be converted? I’ve been wondering about injection and have a couple of mechanical setups I was going to try to convert.

Cheers
