I know them and have seen their work, specialise in classic cars and rods. Drop in and have a look they are not far from you, however as all reputable places they are busy.

So I got the gearbox back from the transmission guys who have replaced the input shaft bearing and syncro's .
They have now given it a clean bill of health so fingers crossed I started bolting it all in.
I forgot how big these gearboxs are when trying to squeeze them in a little escort .
Any way after a few days of messing around its in .
Ive fitted a paddle clutch on a new flywheel so Ill see how it feels , The last paddle clutch I had drove me insane but I want this to look and drive exactly as a rally car so ill try it.
Now to start plumbing it in ,Im still waiting on the ecu from the uk as I wanted anti lag on the program which is taking some time for some bizzarre reason so going to be a few more weeks before it runs which will give me chance to make an exhaust and have the prop shaft altered .
And no I still havent found anyone to paint it.

Hi Bruce , I’m new to this and I’ve recently bought a mark 1 and I’m looking to do a full restoration. I’ve found a bloke that’s gonna do all the body work for me (replacing rusted panels and installing bubble arches etc.)
I’m looking to put a cosworth engine in it and basically do a lot the same as yours.
I’m just wondering do you know anywhere in England I could get like a full package .
Like engine gearbox axles etc. do you know anywhere that does it like that ? Also regarding the front wings you bought with the arches already on them are they magnum panels or where did you find them?
Any help Is greatly appreciated .

Thank you

Hi CB and welcome.
Get some pics up off your project mate , be good to see.

If you want to buy a cossy lump from the UK with everything you need I find these guys pretty good :
https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Automotive-Repair-Shop/RS-Cosworth-Breakers-185792384823336/
Im not saying there the cheapest but as a one stop shop there OK .
Or if you have time on your hands you can keep an eye on www.ebay.co.uk
Shipping is expensive for engines and gearboxes so keep an eye out for that and you will be better crating it all up then bringing it over sea freight through a broker.
Keep an eye on New Zealand also as cossy bits turn up there also www.trademe.co.nz
Front wings came from Gartrac , they dont always show them on there website because they have to order them in .
If you want a pair email Dana on the info email below.

I waited 3 months for mine but it was worth it as the quality and fit is 100%

Cheers

CB you will probably struggle to find those with no rust as most guys hang onto them if they manage to find some .
Yours dont look to bad from the pic attached , ive repaired a lot worse .
If the guy you have found to do your floors and such is any good it will be an easy fix to cut out and replace the tin worm or if your intent to replace you can buy the doors and even just the skins from the UK
Bonnets and boots are not available unless you want fiberglass .
I would strip the paint and see how bad they really are then I would repair them .
