Hi Bruce, just came across this forum and your build (looks awesome btw). Curious as to your thoughts on what a rust free 2 door mk1 might be worth. I've been offered one and am seriously tempted. its a 1300 auto (I think its 72 but need to check when I have a closer look), no rust (came from a farm out west), all parts and chrome are there (but the engine is in the boot and parts that belong under the bonnet are on the passenger seat), one of the panels has taken a hit and needs beating, interior poor to average and maybe some other minor issues. am only up the road from you in the gong. If i can get some photos over the weekend, will put them up.

thanks for the feedback - its a useful perspective. old mate is asking 3k which I think is probably reasonable. it was wrapped up in a tarp when I was there today and neither of us had the time to unwrap it and look at it properly. For me it would be a nostalgic purchase - my first car was a mk1. I definitely wouldn't be going to a show car standard but probably some sort of "sensible" (??) rebuild: change over motor, change from auto to manual, mexico paintwork, maybe bubble arches. If I go ahead with the purchase, will definitely be in touch for advice. The car is in Wollongong as am I.
