Thanks Photo expert.
That clears up the date of manufacture. So being 74 it 'could' have been in the 75 German RS2000? But is that relevant if the heads are the same as non rs2000 head?

Assuming that it passes crack testing etc. Does it look original enough to be a good basis for a the 'lot of work' to make a good head or does it look butchered? I recall comments on a facebook group recently about a head with ports that were too big or wrong shape? Just wanting to check that's its not over worked head that would be harder than a standard head to use as the basis for a new build?

doesn't really look like it has been molested.
i'm sure it will be fine, as long as the inlet port floor hasn't been ground down.
the exhaust ports don't really look like they have been touched. you will need to take plenty out of there anyway.
little hard to tell from the photos but i'm sure it will be fine if its not leaking.

you going to have a go yourself or get it done?

not building the engine until next year, just collecting parts for now.
Will be getting someone to build it.

Car is for motorkhanas, hill climbs, maybe super sprint.
I'm competing for fun with my kids so they learn how to drive properly, i wont be running a top tier motor and cant get a new engine every season, so reliability is very important.

Basic brief will be reliable power for the above events.
