Hi All,
I have got a pair of reproduction 2 door C pillar trims in fiberglass which I am thinking of replicating and modifying for road cars. They are currently blanks-no seatbelt or mounting holes and no posts on the backs for locating into the pillar. If I can get a mould made up to incorporate these standard mounting points would you consider there should be a market for these items? The template has a smooth gelcote surface so if I get a new mould done it won't have the dimpled pattern like the original trims had- how important would this be to prospective buyers?? I have been trying to get some good trims for years so think there should be some demand but will depend on how fussy buyers will be in wanting exact reproductions.

Any constructive comments would be appreciated. This is sort of like market research as I'm not going to go to a lot of effort for nothing - regardless of this I'm going to get a set made up for me anyway so any thoughts of production will have to wait to see the results of the first set. Cheers Len

I have often wondered why no one anywhere (UK, Germany, South Africa, Australia, etc) possibly involved in the Mk2 restoration scene hasn't tried to produce something suitable?
If they fit well and look neat I would guess you would have a fairly big market at least among the 2door Mk2 owners in and around these forums.

I'd be interested in something that replicates the standard ones, as I'm retaining seat belts and the standard headlining.  I expect that this is where the most interest would be.

I am planning exact reproductions including the seat belt clip attachments sometime very soon.
Been interested but just overloaded with other reproduction work.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for that info. I will still go ahead and make up a set for myself anyway, I have fitted retractable belts for the rear so don't need trims with extra holes drilled for the clips. I may still have a set of moulds made up if they're not to expensive and keep for use later.
cheers,
Len
