I am looking to get a cover for my Mk2 Escort but not too sure what's good and what's not. It is in the garage so it won't be getting wet. I just get sick of the dust that blows in over the top of the roller door covering my car between drives.

Does anyone have any tips on what to look for or what to what not to buy?

Cheers, Craig.

Keep away from those silver 1 layer covers seen at super thief auto..
I bought a decent 6 layer from USA that repels dirt rain snow etc etc it also came with a steel cable and lock .... cause in usa they steel car covers rather than the car!
Mine cost $75 Inc shipping and will fit a Falcon size car easily. It has a soft felt fluffy layer so not to scratch paint ..

Hi Craig,
I bought a 4 layer one from Repco, cost $52 on special - part no RCC7-1. Dust and waterproof nice soft lining, made sure of that as my car has a clearcoat. Think I got a medium, covers the Escort easily with a little to spare, has buckle and clips to hold together.

RS 2000
I have Been using a nylon single layer type to keep dust of my cars in the garage. Been using it for about 5 years on my RS and for about 7 years on my other car, no issues whatsoever.

Thanks for the feedback. It's good to know that even the budget ones are ok for indoor use. Thanks for the detailed info Len, I might have to look into that Repco one as for $54 it sounds good.

I found these but apparently Escorts aren't big enough to be classified as 'Show cars'  They come in medium, large and extra large. (Medium being 4.5m long)

Made by Autotechnica and around $100.

Cheers, Craig.

Len, I took your advice and purchased the same cover as yours. Cost me $70 but it fits very well and looks to be very well made. Thanks for the tip. Best part is, no more dusty Escort.

Cheers, Craig.

Hi Craig,
Glad you like the cover, pity it wasn't on special like mine was, one of the main reasons I grabbed it once I opened it up as it seemed really good quality for the money compared to some that I had checked out previously.
Cheers,
Len

Looking for a car cover myself, and was surprised to see the price of the RCC7-1 has jumped to $133. That's some serious inflation at work these past 3.5 years!

Hi Flighter,
Don't know if you will see this in time but Repco are offering 30% off if you are a member of RACV or other motoring organisation this weekend only. Just have to show your membership card.  Might take a bit of the sting on the price of the cover if you still want one.
Cheers, Len
