Hi All,

So following on from some of my previous posts about upgrading to the 38/38 DGES carby, I have a question.

The standard base plate seemingly may be restrictive if used with this carby?. As can be seen by the below pictures, the primary hole in the plate measures 38mm, which is fine, but the secondary hole only measure 32mm, effectively restricting the flow of the second barrel of the 38 carby.

What are people thoughts on this?. Is there are standard replacement people use?.

Thanks knightime. That answers the question of what to do with this one, but what should I put in its stead?

That could be an option. Unless there is a plate of sorts already available?

Chuck it.  You don't need it at all.

So just a gasket in there then and that's all?.....

It also serves as an insulator, which is beneficial.  I'd bore it out in preference to binning it.

Definitely keep the insulator, just open it up with a die grinder to suit. Also I reckon xe/xf falcon carby insulator might be already big enough, go past a carby place and they should have a pile of these.....

cheers

I think I might keep it based on the insulation point.

I pulled out my dremel this morning and started opening the hole using another spare manifold I have as a guide. Seems to be working quite well.

Dremels the go. The plates primarily there to stop/slow heat transfer from the manifold evaporating your fuel after engine stop.
