Welcome, not many 78' Mk2's survived.
Goodluck with it.

Not the cleanest or shiniest engine bay around but I will paint next time i have the engine out.
Bought a 36-1 EDIS wheel from ebay for the crank sensor and made a plate for the back of the cam wheel for a Sync sensor.
Best spark i have ever had from an escort. You can crank the coil dwell times right up and have a good spark plug gap that the boost cant blow out.

Side shot from years ago. all the wiring for the whole engine minus starter and alternator runs to the plugs under the manifold.

EMS 8860. Great ECU very easy to tune and heaps of features

I see a license plate on the front, so do you drive this on the street much?  Never seen it around, but would love to one day.

Yeah mate. I have been driving it around the midland area. I will be at the midvale speed dome this sunday for the Antilag time attack event.

Its very well behaved on the road as its quite laggy. I even have the child restraint points fitted in the back as the kids love going in it.

Hi Turboesky,

I'm building a turbo pinto so interested to know some more o the motor.
Did you build the motor? Got any internal specs on it?

Looks like quite a large turbo, what rpm is that on boost?

Hi Rhys.
I built the motor about 15 years ago as a 2nd year apprentice.
Standard Oringed pinto block
Mahle forged pistons.
Sierra rods with brass sleeves to take the smaller gudgeon pin size.
Standard crank.
Standard head, standard valves and springs , Unleaded seats.
Turbo cam.
ARP head stud kit and big end kit.
Cossie head gasket.
HV oil pump.
Davis craig electric H2O pump
KKK27 turbo.

The engine starts making good boost around 3000 rpm which is great for the street and strip but i am finding it to laggy for rallysprints and tight motorkhana stuff

I am looking for a disco potato or similar for my next turbo.

No hassles from the boys in blue for being non-standard?
