Even a v8 supercar engine doesn't do full "alpha-n". Normally at worst you just do idle. Alpha-n is not needed with most current ecu's. Most problem are due to **** itbs or synchronisation

If you care about correct fuelling and timing at every load and rpm point without compromising, on any NA itb engine, it has to be TPS as main load. It has nothing to do with how modern or good your ecu is.
a bit of discussion in this thread http://www.classic-ford.org/cfp/tm.aspx?m=54621&high=throttle+bodies

for your tb's there are plenty of aftermarket ones around. for bike tb's look at something like the gsxr600 range. they have a 38mm throat which is pefect for a pinto, not sure about a zetec. and can be individual seperated making for easy manifiold manufacture. http://www.msextra.com/fo...ic.php?f=94&t=6602 has some specs on various bike carbs. Depending how south you are you may need something with an idle control if its a road car.
