Engine capacity size is worded as largest 'recommeneded'.....
MOST engineers wont pass any higher than that however it IS still possible however
most unlikely.
I do know of one MK1 cortina that is still being built with V8 for reg and is
still passing regular engineer/tech inspections.
While I love modern technology, esp the jap 4/6 turbo engines I completely dissagree with V8's being dinasaurs.
Have you seen some of the new technology in recent cylinder head development?
(Dont forget the dinosaur powered LS9 corvette originally lapped Nurmburgring quicker than the new 'more technology than NASA' Nissan GT-R)
and I'm guessing an all alloy windsor will weigh less than an SR20DET!!!
If you do need any info on LS1's. measurements etc, check out this thread -

Just throw a jap front cut in it like everyone else! It is the way to go for a reason. It'll be cheaper in the long run and you will be able to get reg.
