Hi all,

I was helping a mate out with his Capri V6 starter motor, and I think his poor old Lucas stater has finally seen better days and is struggling to start his lightly worked essex V6 (mainly due to increased compression ratio).

So I am asking if anybody has fitted one of the High Torque stater motors and does anybody have any feedback on them, i.e. do they fit correctly etc.

He is looking at one like this.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I have a similar brand .You will have to muck around with the bolts .I ended up drilling the bellhousing thread out I think .I'm running an allen key bolt and nut. The problem is impossible to put a socket on 1 bolt but can get allen key in which you will have to cut down. That said easily turns over motor. If your motor has increased compression you got get a decent battery with atleast 550cc to crank it they go hand in hand.

I replaced mine some years ago with a high torque starter from 'The Engine Centre'. At the time they were in Pound Rd, Narre Warren South and he had trouble sourcing the right adaptor plate for use with the 'Essex' V6. He did however use a contact in New Zealand who had the right adaptor plate and once that problem was sorted, happy days! He has since moved to Garfield in West Gippsland, Victoria and can be found at this web address: http://www.enginecentre.com.au/
