Guys I'm after a bolt in cage to suit a mk1 escort.

I realise a full weld in cage is the ideal, however local rego laws dont agree.

Firstly, does anyone have one lying around???

What Aust suppliers/manufacturers are there in Aus? Reviews/Cost?

Anyone imported one from the UK? Make/Cost?

Thanks, Shaun.

No personal experience with anyone yet. But theres a few guys around.
Ill be hopefully looking to do one as well here in NSW, but i assumed it needed engineers sign off anyway. Ive had a half aluminium cage sitting there for years but they'd be as useless as tits on a bull id imagine.

Not sure if you've seen this but some info for VIC users

http://www.bondrollbars.com/ in nsw. theyve been around for a long time and my weld in cage was that good we could stitch weld it along the pillars with no tabs required. alot of the later model club cars used at wac use bond bolt in cages.

Thanks guys,

I do realise an engineers is required for any cage.  From my initial investigations, bolt in cages are 'easier' to have signed off.  When combined with the other mods I have on my list to be signed, I want the process as painless as possible.

I know I'm probably postponing the inevitable, however once I go to full cage, I'm sure the car will quickly move from  sometimes street to full track.  Something I'm not prepared to do just yet.

Matt, that is very reasonable,  Have you got any pics or is there a chance I could drop by for  a look.

The more road accidents I attend, the more I realise my 1971 escort needs a little extra insurance.

Thanks again,

Shaun

Hey Bud,

I am yet to pull the trigger but I am pretty sure Mish has one in his car.

I will get Sandy from Aus4wd in Bayswater (RSOC VIC member) to do my cage.  Check his MK1 build on the RSOC Vic Facebook page that he completed from bare shell to racing last Sunday at Sandown in under 2 weeks.  His cage is probably more involved than I need but very impressive none the less.

Cheers

Matt
