Could someone please post a photo of the bonnet release handle under the dash in a MKII Escort.
I need to see how the metal clasp sits on the mounting bracket.

I think I had it right but it won't grip the cable.

Looks like the plastic outer sleeve of the cable runs all the way to the end to provide grip for the clasp.
The plastic has been stripped off of mine so I will have to come up with a way of getting it to grip or source a new cable!!

I should have some spare cables and levers in my bucket stash of pieces, you might be missing the cable locking clasp which usually resides near the radiator. this holds the cable outer securely, if its not there the lot moves with no effect to releasing the bonnet.
