Anyone know where to buy the bearing for the fan for a v6 Capri. Anything interchangeable as well.

AS I havent heard back from Wiggy33, was wondering if anyone else knows the generic or any part numbers of

this famous Fan Bearing, OR, what are the dimensions of the Bearing, as I want to find one now rather than wait

till I or a mate needs it..............I have many hundreds of new bearings and none of my parts books back to 1969

even mention this Bearing, and I havent got an old one to get dimensions.

Sad part is, front Timing Cover has to come off to renew this Bearing.

NB..........all my cars have had their power-robbing mechanical fans removed; what a difference !

The ones I know will never see "city traffic" I dont bother with elec fans but keep a vigilant eye on Temp Guage

! May also keep standard belt in boot for my V6, and see how she goes with "short" belt (deleting fan pulley drive)?
!......Leave fan & pulley in place and just swap Belt if I find myself in city traffic........5 minute job

I don't know part number for the fan pulley bearing unfortunately I have no parts book for the v6. Although Johns capris says there are two types so I presume the Dport bearing is different to the oval port. Also seems like there is a bit of work to remove but only pressing out but in a certain way. I have not removed one yet Bernie but I know I have bad bearings so want to replace them. I have two D port motors and two oval port so i need four in total. Are you saying though you run your car with no fan at all? I would not think that wise as traffic can be found anywhere nowadays. I have heard of a similar bearing being machined down to fit but a lot of hassle if Capri spares sell the right one. Keith

Thanks Keith,

yes I see your concern re NO-FAN , but if I think my trip has a 1% chance of city traffic, or it's gunna be a stinker of over 35 degrees I take a car with electric fans that once had a mech fan.     If I know my trip is away from metro towards the country, I always take a FAN-less car as I have for the last 25 years. Even on the hottest days, I've never seen guages go past half way as I'm always moving.
(Reminder to self).....I must run a separate Temp Sender to a large Idiot Light/Buzzer just to make sure in case of a senior moment !
Cheers. Bernie

I agree with removing the fan yes but with a small grill and airflow through the motor restricted I would think even electric fan in front of the radiator would be the way to go. Each to their own. Basil green with the V8 Perana had a moment where his tie was waving in the wind before the radiator and realised the fan wasn't sucking air so had to redesign the intake and make a shroud to suck the air in better.
