Hey Griezy,
yep from this car, the headlining is complete with ribs and all,I took it out very carefully and I was going to send to Aldridge in the UK to get one made , I have had (3) headlinings done in Australia for my escorts and they were like coming out of a cheap swet shop, crap.
so do you know a legend trimmer that won't stuff up?

hey mate, if i could just find any full roof lining with all hardware i would be happy, at least it would be a start, i did find a place that had a few escort full linings in minto (smallfords) i think they are called, went there over 6 months ago and they said they would get back to me when they got it out of one of their cars, never got back, I've emailed them three times since but never replied, (great way to do business)

im originally from campbelltown so i did have a place that did a great job on my 1954 FJ Ute i had, near narellan (G-Trim) but when i went there a few months ago they were not there anymore, not sure if they closed or moved again. i was going to try TQ Motor trimming in campbelltown, been there a few times with my old monaro, they do a alright job but not top show jobs

or i was going to try ABX Trim in kelso near bathurst, much closer to me, but cant say how good they are as i never been there before,

or another thought if the place in uk do a top job, would you consider getting two made up, may get a discount the more you order but i still need the hardware for it

cheers

I have not heard it running however the guy I got it off offered to drive it out of his yard but it was winched out to be easy,
I am not going to say it runs and now its out of the car and personally I would not even of tried to start it.
Common sense would be to pull it down and freshen up or to inspect.

Regarding the headlining, I too could do with one for my Sundowner so we could get a few made up possibly?
I live in the UK so I could sort things out this end for you guys?

PS: The van looks too good to scrap :-D

Oh, if anyone is interested I started a Facebook page for Sundowners if you fancy joining in :-)

All helps to keep these vans on the road!

Let me know if I can help in any way from the UK

Hi Jim,

I actually joined this site last year but never got round to posting!

Anyway, yes Ive got one of Australia's Sundowners here in the UK. Whooligan knows the van and a few others :-)
Mine is a 2.0 1979 White version and is currently on a frame so I can sort out the underneath. It's having a full resto!

I will contact the team at Aldridge and see if the price could be reduced if another was ordered from them. Im sure that this full length headlining would appeal to the guys in the UK with vans as we only had a headlining that covered the front 'cabin' area.
Cheers
Justin
