I have a pair of Pedders Comfort Gas strut inserts nicely fitted to my strut bodies ready for re-assembly, that is until we went to fit the top nut.  They are odd, very fine thread nothing like any other struts we have to compare.  3 hours of searching tells me they are 7/16 UNEF (28 threads per inch, shaft diameter 11.114mm).  Pedders do not supply a new fitting kit for this size anymore.  No-one carries them, word has it they are aeroplane standard but even the guy that supplies Tigermoth parts has no idea where to find them. 
 
OK who has buggered strut inserts around that might have fine thread, or is anyone a fitter and turner who has access to a 7/16 UNEF tap and can run a few up.   Happy to pay cash or beer JR 0409 091 252

Jr I bought a 7/16 UNC brass nut from masters recently .

G'day mate, I will check the machine shop at work tomorrow, and see what they have there. I know there are a few EF taps, not too sure what size from memory though. If They do, I'm sure i'll be able to whip a few up for you!

Woo Hoo you're the best.  Cheers the UNF thread was available, but, it doesn't fit, it's definately UNEF.  It looks like someone already screwed the wrong ones on which was possibly why I picked them up cheap.... 

G'day mate, unfortunately we only have a 9/16 unef tap. We do have metric fine and metric very fine though, however, not really useful for what you need.

Missed it by  THAT much, thanks very much for looking anyway, looks like I order a new pair of Munroes......
