The polarizer was a bit of an enigma.
I trashed (early 80's) a blue xu1 - bush bashed it to death up back of emerald vic -  and one of those green 307 monaros with gold stripes - we had to - all the crap we copped from the holden guys! haha. (The worst offence was being told capris were just a poor mans celica  - early 80's jibe) - still scarred.....

I had an Xu1 replica Hp179 block and Blue. Great car but never loved it like my Capri. Lent it to a mate who crashed it and had to come to happy medium on price for repair. Needless to say I lost out. Capris would have flawed all the competition at Bathurst if they had the V8 in them. As the Falcons were winning I think Ford didn't bother. The Perana was banned from racing in South Africa as it won all of its racing bar one when it broke down. Look at a V8 Capri Perana specs and few cars came close in the day. These all are iconic cars enjoy them it's not about car value but the enjoyment factor( stop looking at wrecks Keith as my partner says all the time).

So for pricing what would an RS 3100 be in today's dollar. That for me is the benchmark dollar value an Australian delivered Capri would be worth. I personally don't like the facelift as the dash is not what I'm used to. Also Mk2 and 3s don't turn me on. I also believe that the Capri deserved the V8 and that is why I bought the V8 Perana. To me it's the ultimate Ford sold Capri but that's my view.

RS3100s are a bit more complex. They wouldn't generally make stupid money in Australia (unless they were low milage survivors or fully restored) but in the UK they are climbing in value. With the exchange rate factored in, there have been a few sell at auction in the UK for around $100k (Aus equivalent). These are fully restored examples, but some which have been rebodies have sold for around 20% less.

If you had an RS to sell you'd be better off advertising it in Europe/UK at the moment. Not sure what they've sold for in Oz of late, maybe others will know.

What are the headings for each of the columns Terry? I'm guessing from left to right will be described something like: 'Excellent', 'Good roadworthy example' and 'all there but needs work'.

A v6 Capri still isn't worth doing up at those prices. (Rs would work). A resto is definitely a love thing fr the Capri owner

an article out of one of the mag's I scored with the GXL - caption reads: "A Lynton Arrow Executive on tow behind a Ford Capri 3000E; they proved a very satisfactory pair when testing"
Maybe an option when it comes to your retirement plans JR?

Those figures to me seem very unrealistic. Especially when you look at the Perana pricing. As always insurance values and places such as just cars have huge variables. As has always been stated it's what someone is prepared to pay on the day but places like Shannon's etc would be a better bench mark of sale prices in my opinion. Oh and caravaning with a Capri is not a good idea.
